               OUR MISSION
Called by Christ through the Holy Spirit, our mission as a Lutheran commuity is to share the Good News of God's Grace through prayer, worship, witness, and service  in our community.
About St Andrew Lutheran Church
St Andrew Lutheran Church traces its beginnings to the Summer of 1964.  The Board of American Missions recommended a Lutheran congregation be formed and called Reverend Gerald Wise to develop a worshiping community in Mount Airy in October of 1964.  Our first service was held January 3rd, 1965 in the North Main School auditorium and then a few months later at the Trinity Episcopal Church.  We are grateful for their gracious welcome into the community.
In April 1967 we built a church house chapel.  Pastor Wise resigned in April 1968 and moved to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock VA.
In May of 1968, the North Carolina Synod called Pastor Wilford Lyerly to our fledgling congregation.  Under his leadership, the congregation was organized on August 24, 1969 with 52 adult charter members and 69 baptized members.  Shortly thereafter, 2,2 acres was purchsed at the intersection of Highway 52  and Fancy Gap Road.  The current building was built on this site where we now worship and serve the community of Mount Airy and the surrounding communities.
Since our formation by Pastor Wise and Pastor Lyerly, the congregation has been served by Reverend David Lindler, Reverend Chris Johnson, Reverend Christina Johnson, Reverend Dale Cline, and most recently by Reverend Michael Weaver as an interim.
We are currently without a full time pastor and searching for a new Pastor .
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is to provide opportunity for all of God's children to join us in hearing God's Word, and having fellowship with one another. We openly invite all of those that are baptized to share in God's meal and to worship his glorious Son, Jesus who died on the cross for our sins.
